The number of crimes committed against people aged 65 or older in Victoria has increased over the past 10 years, even when even taking into account an ageing population, research released today by the Crime Statistics Agency shows.
The Crime Statistics Agency has today released the Victorian recorded crime statistics for the year ending 30 June 2018. In the last 12 months the number of criminal incidents dropped by 5.6% or 22,876 incidents to 383,100. The criminal incident rate also declined by 7.8% to 5,921.9 incidents per 100,000 Victorians. These are the lowest figures since the year ending June 2015.
