State wide figures

• The number of criminal incidents recorded by Victoria Police in the year to 30 June 2020 was 407,768, up 5.6% from 385,963 incidents recorded in the same period last year. 
• The number of offences recorded by Victoria Police in the year to 30 June 2020 was 544,237. This is up 6.0% from 513,578 offences recorded in the same period last year.
• Alleged offender incidents increased 12.5% to 180,458 in the year to 30 June 2020, up from 160,381.
• Unique alleged offenders (including organisations) increased 7.4% to 87,362 in the year to 30 June 2020, up from 81,355. 
• Victim reports increased in the year to 30 June 2020 by 5.3% (15,838) to 316,186 victim reports.
• Unique victims (including organisations) increased in the year to 30 June 2020 by 6.4% (14,390) to 239,762 victims.
• Family incidents increased in the year to 30 June 2020, up 6.7% from 82,651 to 88,214.
• Alleged offender incidents with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status increased 11.9% to 13,851 in the year ending June 2020, up from 12,376.
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status of those involved in Family incident increased for both Affected family members (up 2.8% to 4,456) and Other parties (up 4.3% to 5,421).

The five Local Government Areas with the highest criminal incident rates in the year ending June 2020 were:

• Melbourne (14,082.7 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, down 3.6%)
• Latrobe (13,290.6 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 2.2%)
• Yarra (11,116.3 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 2.7%)
• Mildura (9,866.5 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 2.9%)
• Greater Shepparton (9,488.4 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 1.8%)

Recorded Offences

The five Local Government Areas with the highest recorded offence rates in the year ending June 2020 were:

• Melbourne (19,054.4 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, down 0.4%)
• Latrobe (18,079.2 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, down 4.2%)
• Yarra (13,715.5 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 5.6%)
• Mildura (13,398.2 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 3.7%)
• Greater Shepparton (13,223.9 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, down 0.2%)
