State wide figures
- The number of criminal incidents recorded by Victoria Police in the year to 31 March 2024 was 396,238, up 10.1% from 359,807 incidents recorded in the same period last year.
- The number of offences recorded by Victoria Police in the year 31 March 2024 was 535,673. This is up 7.9% from 496,412 offences recorded in the same period last year.
- Alleged offender incidents increased 9.4% to 171,397 in the year to 31 March 2024, up from 156,602.
- Person victim reports increased in the year to 31 March 2024, up 10.0% (20,991) to 229,878 person victim reports.
- Family incidents increased in the year to 31 March 2024, up 3.1% from 93,085 to 95,982.
- Alleged offender incidents with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status increased 21.1% (3,197) to 18,340 in the year to 31 March 2024.
- In the year to 31 March 2024 the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status of those involved in Family incident increased for Affected family members (up 8.2% to 5,930) while Other parties increased (up 10.8% to 7,254).

The highest criminal incident rates in Local Government Areas in the year ending 31 March 2024 were:
- Melbourne (14,379.7 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 1.9%).
- Latrobe (11,225.0 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 9.1%).
- Mildura (10,530.5 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 9.8%).
- Yarra (10,443.9 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 6.6%).
- Port Philip (8,884.0 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, down 0.8%).
Recorded Offences
The highest recorded offence rates in Local Government Areas in the year ending 31 March 2024 were:
- Melbourne (19,932.2 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 2.8%).
- Latrobe (15,239.0 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 3.1%).
- Mildura (14,204.7 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 7.6%).
- Horsham (13,530.9 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 10.3%).
- Yarra (13,027.0 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, down 5.4%).
