State wide figures
1. The number of criminal incidents recorded by Victoria Police in the year to 31 December 2024 was 456,453, up 18.7% from 384,568 incidents recorded in the same period last year.
2. The number of offences recorded by Victoria Police in the year 31 December 2024 was 605,640. This is up 15.7% from 523,403 offences recorded in the same period last year.
3. Alleged offender incidents increased 17.1% to 187,496 in the year to 31 December 2024 up from 160,131.
4. Person victim reports increased in the year to 31 December 2024, up 19.4% (43,187) to 265,972 person victim reports.
5. Family incidents increased in the year to 31 December 2024, up 11.3% from 94,166 to 104,786.
6. Alleged offender incidents with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status increased 31.2% (5,470) to 22,991 in the year to 31 December 2024.
7. In the year to 31 December 2024 the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status of those involved in Family incident increased for Affected family members (up 18.6% to 6,917) while Other parties increased (up 24.8% to 8,852).

The highest criminal incident rates in Local Government Areas in the year ending 31 December 2024 were:
1. Melbourne (16,965.3 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 10.7%)
2. Yarra (12,391.9 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 18.2%)
3. Latrobe (12,212.6 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 11%)
4. Mildura (11,150.6 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 6.6%)
5. Port Phillip (10,375.5 incidents per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 15.5%)
Recorded Offences
The highest recorded offence rates in Local Government Areas in the year ending 31 December 2024 were:
1. Melbourne (22,080.8 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 3.9%)
2. Latrobe (17,000.3 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 12.3%)
3. Yarra (14,950.1 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 13.4%)
4. Mildura (14,907.8 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 6.5%)
5. Greater Shepparton (14,697.2 offences per 100,000 estimated resident population, up 19.6%)
